The History
Family owned & operated
Karunguru Coffee is more than just a brand; it’s a living legacy passed down through four generations of farmers. Our story is woven into the very land we tend, a heritage born from a deep, abiding passion for creating exceptional coffee and signature experiences.
While coffee was introduced to Kenya in 1893, our story on this very land began in 1928, when the first coffee trees were planted here by a family from New Zealand. In 1974, our grandfather and family patriarch, Hon Geoffrey Kariithi Karekia and our Matriarch Mrs. Mary Wangeci Kariithi, took over the farm, expanding it and cementing farming as an integral part of our family’s identity.
